The Breville No Mess Classic Waffle Maker – Review

Breville No Mess Waffle Maker Review

There are so many waffle irons around that are specialized in making Belgian style waffles. But for lovers of the classic waffles, the choices are dwindling down.

In our opinion, one of the best round waffle makers is the Breville No Mess classic round waffle iron which bakes crispy golden classic (standard) waffles.

You can check out our classic waffle recipe made with the No-Mess Breville waffle maker here.

The waffles are not as thin as the usual American waffles but not as thick as a Belgian waffle. It’s kind of somewhere in the middle.

My family loves the taste and crunchiness. The waffles are baked with a consistent golden brown color and beautifully chewy texture.

The overflow brim that wraps around the waffle plates makes cleaning up the waffle iron a breeze. No stuck dried batter on the exterior you would have to scrape off.

Just wipe with a damp cloth or follow my instructions from the post How To Clean A Waffle Iron.

The Breville No Mess Waffle Maker – Review

Let’s get some details out of the way, shall we? The Breville measures 9.5″ x 11.5″ x 5.7″ and weighs around 6.7 lbs.

It is a well-sized waffle iron that needs a bit of counter space but should still fit a smaller kitchen.

The Breville is available in stainless silver and cranberry red which will brighten any kitchen space.

It runs on 900 Watt and features seven browning settings. We have found setting three to be enough to get a nice crunchy brown waffle.

On the picture, you can also clearly see the wrap around moat that catches any over flowing batter. The cool thing is that it bakes the batter so you can have little crunchy waffle bites to eat as well.

Breville’s invention of the moat is just ingenious. No messy bits on the exterior to clean up. It is well thought out with the customer in mind.

Some More Great Features

The Breville No Mess Waffle Maker for round standard (classic) waffles has two lights – one for the power and another one that indicates when it’s preheated enough, ready to put the batter into the plates.

In addition to the lights, you’ll also hear a beeping sound once the waffle maker is ready and again when the waffle is baked.

There is also a locking latch and an option to wrap the cord for easy storage.

Health- conscious people will love the fact that the nonstick plates are PFOA and Teflon free. Breville is using die-cast aluminum for the coating.

For more options on waffle makers without Teflon, please read more here.

The preheating time takes roughly 4 to 5 minutes. Ones the waffle iron is hot, the process of making waffles is straight forward.

Only fill the plates with half a cup of batter. Remember, the batter doubles in size and will fill out the plates completely.

Also, you don’t need to grease the plates at all. Nothing will stick to the plates. It can be tricky to lift out the waffles at times.

Close the lid and wait for the magic to happen. My kids and I love watching how the batter lifts up the lid ever so slightly.

The “ready light” will go off and goes on again once the waffle is cooked together with a beeping sound. The sound is not very loud and can easily be missed.

We do love that you can take out the waffle and put in the next lot of batter straight away without any waiting time in between.

A delicious crispy golden waffle is ready in around four minutes.
