Our easy and delicious cherry clafoutis is the perfect summer dessert. It is light, creamy, and fruity – just simply scrumptious.
Unlike most recipes, my version of this French dessert uses canned cherries instead of fresh cherries.
Because I am using canned cherries, which by the way are much cheaper than using fresh ones, my family and I are enjoying this cherry clafoutis at any time of the year.
I do like that the custard-like batter is not too sweet but it is still so creamy. For a fruity dessert, it feels quite indulgent.
In fact, fruity desserts, whether my German apple cake, Feijoa crumble, or Cherry Clafoutis are my go-to desserts to impress my family and friends.
You can serve this simple classic French treat with cream, and/or ice cream or just on its own. I like it best served warm but you can also serve it cold. It is really up to you.

If you don’t have cherries at hand, you can use other fruits as well like pears, blueberries, or apples, just to name a few.
Most recipes use powdered sugar before serving the cherry clafoutis. But I urge you to try my sugar/cinnamon topping which I sprinkle on top for the last 15 minutes of baking time.
I just love the caramelized result. It goes so well with the cherry-custardy end product. Yummy!
